Jennifer Fais

At the June 12 meeting of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission in Corning, Jennifer Fais, Principal Planner at the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board (STC), was presented with the Commission's 2003 Maurice K. Goddard Award.

The award recognizes Ms. Fais' excellent contributions to watershed management, community and environmental planning, wellhead protection, and water quality programs. Ms. Fais has worked at STC for 19 years, providing technical and planning assistance to Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler Counties. In recent years, Ms. Fais has become the lifeblood of the Chemung Basin River Trail Partnership, which promotes recreational use of the Chemung River and its tributaries.

The award was presented by John Hicks, SRBC Commissioner from New York, who said, "We at SRBC, value Jennifer's keen understanding of watershed management and the significant benefits of interstate cooperation and coordination for water resources management." He also described Ms. Fais as "a spirited individual and a great asset to the citizens of the Southern Tier and to the entire Susquehanna watershed."
