Aquatic Biologist—2 Positions

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC), an interstate water resources management agency, seeks two career Aquatic Biologists for its office in Harrisburg, PA. One position is entry level. The second position is a mid-level position requiring specialized experience in fisheries biology. Both positions include but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Designing and implementing ecological field studies in streams, rivers, and ponds, including quality assurance project plans.
  • Completing aquatic resource surveys to include field data collection, data analysis and report writing.

Only candidates with the following eligibility requirements will be considered:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology, aquatic ecology, or other related field required for entry level position. Master’s degree in biology, aquatic ecology, or other related field preferred for mid-level position.
  • At least two years generalized ecology/field work experience for the entry level position.
  • Mid-level position requires five years experience as a fisheries biologist with an extensive background in field work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with knowledge of GIS technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Aptitude to effectively manage multiple projects and plan activities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Susquehanna River Basin to remote locations including overnight trips.

Hydrogeologist—2 Positions

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC), an interstate water resources management agency, seeks two career Hydrogeologists for its office in Harrisburg, PA. One position is entry level. The second position is mid-level with a current Professional Geologist license. Both positions include but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Reviewing groundwater withdrawal applications and aquifer test plans & results.
  • Interacting with project sponsors to include formal written responses.

Only candidates with the following eligibility requirements will be considered:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, or other related field required for both positions. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Professional Geologist license required for the mid-level position.
  • Two to eight years experience in aquifer test planning, performance and interpretations; public water supply assessments; groundwater development and regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with considerable knowledge of GIS technology and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to organize and review multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Compliance Specialist

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC), an interstate water resources management agency, seeks a career Compliance Specialist for its office located in Sayre, PA. Duties will include both technical and on-site reviews of a wide array of water-related projects for consistency with agency regulations. Compliance Specialists spend 70 percent or more of working hours in the field under all types of weather and climate conditions. Candidates with the following eligibility requirements will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, water resources management, geology, biology, or other related field.
  • One to two years experience in environmental consulting or regulatory compliance preferably dealing with water resources management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with considerable knowledge of GIS technology and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to organize and review multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity for day and/or overnight travel to remote project sponsor locations as well as the ability to work non-traditional hours as business needs require.

Administrative Specialist-Sayre, PA

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC), an interstate water resources management agency, seeks an Administrative Specialist for its Sayre, PA office. Duties will include entering, manipulating and maintaining data in Microsoft Access data base related to approved projects’ consumptive use of water. It also provides administrative support for the Sayre office to include receiving telephone calls and visitors and responding to questions from project sponsors, other agencies, and the public.

Candidates with the following eligibility requirements will be considered:

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible administrative support experience in a fast-paced, office environment.
  • Two years of appropriate post-high school administrative support education.
  • Considerable knowledge and skill with all Microsoft Office applications, specifically Access, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail that is balanced with the ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines.
  • Skilled in exercising good judgment, courtesy and tack when giving and obtaining information and making proper decisions independently.
