About the GrantSRBC to Hold Public Hearing on Water Project Applications - SRBC will hold a public hearing on May 2, 2024. The hearing will cover applications for several water withdrawal and consumptive use projects, a proposed rulemaking for agency procurement and bid protest procedures, and a draft companion policy entitled “SRBC Procurement Procedures.” These projects, rulemaking, and policy will be presented for Commission action at its next business meeting on June 13, 2024.

Proposed Rulemaking and Procurement Procedures Policy - The Commission is seeking public comment on a proposed rulemaking and companion policy. The proposed rules would amend the regulations of the Commission to provide for agency procurement and bid protest procedures.
$68 Million Grant Awarded to Restore Severely Impaired Watershed - SRBC has been awarded $68,255,481 through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Abandoned Mine Lands and Acid Mine Drainage Grant Program to construct an active treatment plant in the Tioga River Watershed. The plant will remedy severe acid mine drainage from historic coal mining that pollutes the Tioga River, and the benefits will expand far beyond the restoration of a single waterway.
Blossburg Couple Honored for Efforts to Restore the Tioga River Watershed - SRBC is honoring a couple whose devotion to the restoration of the Tioga River Watershed will soon turn its orange, polluted waters into clear, healthy flows. Charlie and Joyce Andrews of Blossburg, Pennsylvania received the William Jeanes Sr. Award from SRBC Commissioners on December 14th, 2023 at their quarterly business meeting held in Corning, New York.
Groundbreaking Groundwater Recharge Study Released - SRBC has published a groundbreaking study focused on groundwater recharge potential in over-utilized areas with limited water availability. The study – Identifying Optimal Groundwater Recharge Locations and Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas within the Susquehanna River Basin – was completed by the Commission to help identify important areas of the basin.
General Permit 02 - effective October 1st, 2023The Commission has approved a new general permit that allows for the withdrawal of groundwater from wells for emergency uses or maintenance activities.
