  • 43 % of all the sites had nonimpaired biological conditions
  • 8 sites showed an improvement in biological conditions from the year before
  • 10 sites showed a decline in biological conditions from the year before
Habitat Conditions
Water Quality
  • 48 % of all the sites showed excellent physical habitat
  • 14 sites had improved habitat conditions from the year before
  • 4 sites showed degraded habitat conditions since last year
 
  • Total aluminum accounted for 63% of all water quality standard violations
  • In NY-PA streams, aluminum and iron most frequently exceeded water quality standards
  • In PA-MD streams, nutrients continue to be the biggest concern

  • South Creek; for NY-PA I nterstate streams
  • Big Branch Deer Creek; for PA-MD interstate streams
  • Deep Hollow Brook, for Group 3 interstate streams
  • Susquehanna River at Windsor, NY (river mile 365); for the large river sites
