CURWENSVILLE LAKE WATER STORAGE PROJECT

On Sept. 30, 1994, SRBC signed the agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers to purchase 5,360 acre-feet of storage, which is about 4.3 percent of Curwensville Lake's total storage capacity. This storage had been previously associated with the fall lowering/summer filling of the reservoir, which is a practice that was discontinued as a result of the water storage project. The Corps began the structural changes to the recreational facilities at the reservoir in September 1996-no structural changes to either the dam or the outlet works were needed. The completed water storage project was dedicated in August 1997.
