SRBC Held Business Meeting in Scranton, Pa.

Approved 13 water project applications

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) on Thursday, March 9, 2017, held its quarterly business meeting in Scranton, Pa. Among its actions, SRBC:

  • adopted its FY2018 budget;
  • adopted a resolution setting a five-year docket term for withdrawals related to unconventional natural gas under the discretion provided in 18 C.F.R. Section 806.31(a); and
  • approved 13 applications and tabled 8 applications (see lists below).

SRBC’s voting commissioners and alternates were:  Virginia Kearney, SRBC Chair and Deputy Director of Water Management Administration, Maryland Department of the Environment; Brig. General William Graham, SRBC Vice Chair, Commander and Division Engineer, North Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Paul D’Amato, Director, Region 8, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; and Jennifer Orr, Director of Compacts and Commissions Office, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

SRBC staff also reported on delegated settlements with the following project sponsors, pursuant to SRBC Resolution No. 2014-15: 

  • Talen Energy Corp./Susquehanna Nuclear, in the amount of $9,000;
  • Sugar Hollow Trout Park and Hatchery, in the amount of $2,000;
  • Mount Nittany Medical Center, in the amount of $8,993.75;
  • Toggenburg Mountain Winter Sports Center, in the amount of $3,500; and
  • Moxie Freedom LLC, in the amount of $8,500.
