SRBC TO MEET JUNE 7 TO VOTE ON 32 PROJECT APPLICATIONS, PROPOSED FEE CHANGES, WATER RESOURCES PROGRAM

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) (www.srbc.net) will conduct its next public business meeting on June 7, 2012, 9:00 a.m., Binghamton State Office Building, Warren Anderson Community Room, 18th Floor, 44 Hawley Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.

The commissioners will act on 32 project applications, proposed fee changes related to the regulatory program and records processing, the Water Resources Program, amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, FY-2014 budget, and the request for administrative appeal from Anadarko E&P Company LP related to SRBC’s denial of a groundwater withdrawal application.

Given the ample opportunity for public comment in advance of the June 7 meeting, SRBC will not be accepting additional comments on the applications or other actions at the meeting.  (SRBC held a public hearing on the project applications, proposed fees and Comprehensive Plan amendments on May 10 to receive comments and accepted additional written comments through May 21.  All other agenda items are open for written comment through June 1.)

SRBC’s rules of conduct for the June 7, 2012 business meetings include:

  • All persons must sign-in and show photo identification.
  • Signage, posters, banners or other display media will not be permitted inside the facility, lobby areas or in the meeting room.
  • The press will be permitted to set up and use video and recording devices in a designated area.  The public will be permitted to use small, hand-held devices that remain in their possession and are used in a non-disruptive manner.

For the complete agenda with the list of project applications and the full set of rules of conduct specific for the June 7 business meeting, visit the public participation page on SRBC’s web site at www.srbc.net/pubinfo/publicparticipation.htm.

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based SRBC is the governing agency established under a 100-year compact signed on December 24, 1970, by the federal government and the states of New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland to protect and wisely manage the water resources of the Susquehanna River Basin.  The Susquehanna River starts in Cooperstown, New York, and flows 444 miles to Havre de Grace, Maryland, where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.
