2008 Annual Water Resources Program
The
2008 Annual Water Resources Program [1.96MB - PDF] was adopted on
March 13, 2008. Section 14.2 of the Susquehanna River Basin Compact (Compact),
P.L. 91-575 requires SRBC to annually adopt a water resources program,
based upon the comprehensive plan and consisting of the projects and facilities
that will be undertaken by SRBC and by other authorized governmental and
private agencies, organizations, and persons during the ensuing six years
or such other reasonably foreseeable period. Beyond this Compact requirement,
there is a need to set forth in one concise document a listing of the
programs and projects that will help meet the current problems and challenges
of water resources management in the Susquehanna River Basin. The following
programs/projects of SRBC and other water resource management agencies
will constitute the Water Resources Program (WRP) of the SRBC for 2008
to meet the water resources needs set forth in the Comprehensive Plan.
The water resource needs are:
- Coordination
- Reduce Flood Damages & Provide Effective Disaster Recovery
- Improve Water Quality
- Mitigate Drought Impacts
- Ensure Adequate Water Supply
- Promote Economic Development
- Protect and/or Restore Aquatic Ecosystems
- Restore Migratory Fish
- Manage Sediment
- Preserve Cultural & Historical Heritage
- Enhance Recreation
- Facilitate Data Management & Use
