Rainwater Reuse Pilot Project Bid Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex

A key component of the Paxton Creek Watershed Stormwater Project – led by the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) and partners – is to test stormwater management scenarios using local demonstration projects. The demonstration projects are intended to improve water quality while educating citizens about stormwater management in the Paxton Creek Watershed.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg was chosen as an ideal location for a stormwater education project due to the frequent flooding issues and high visability of the site. The Farm Show Complex involves a large impervious area – a challenge in many urban settings. In areas where poor soil infiltration capacity or little available open space limit the use of infiltration best management practices (BMPs) such as bioretention, rooftop capture and reuse systems may be an especially significant BMP for water quality and quantity control. The Farm Show complex will install a pilot–scale rooftop capture and reuse system that will serve as an educational tool for the over 1 million yearly visitors to the Complex. SRBC will develop educational signage and outreach material to teach visitors about innovative stormwater and best management practices.

SRBC requested sealed bids to design and construct this rainwater capture and reuse pilot system at the Farm Show Complex. The captured rainwater will be pressurized and used to wash down surfaces in the arena, thus reducing urban nutrient runoff from the site into the Paxton Creek Watershed.

BID IS NOW CLOSED.
