![]() Outreach & EducationOutreach and education activities are to be carried out using a three-track process (Public, Commercial and Government). Each track involves producing educational materials, conducting workshops, forming advisory panels to serve as a model for fostering local stakeholder support, and featuring demonstration projects to test effective methods for education and partner building.
Commercial Track - Focus: Educating commercial landowners on low impact development (LID) measures, easements and recreational green/open space; and strengthening public-private partnerships and opportunities for multi-use development. Public Track - Focus: Raising public awareness on stormwater management and what individual homeowners can do to mitigate impacts from their properties; and establishing activities for volunteer households such as keeping roof runoff on-site, reducing fertilizer use, reducing mowing frequency, and enhancing stream buffers. Government Track - Focus: Educating local/state officials on stormwater management - this will include the use of state facilities (State Police and Dept. of Transportation) in the Paxton watershed as demonstration projects for implementing LID measures and retrofits. |
