ABOUT
THE SYMPOSIUM:
This symposium was about the challenges common to riverfront communities
throughout the Susquehanna River Basin -- in New York, Pennsylvania and
Maryland.
The program was designed to capture a wide range of interests through
plenary and concurrent
sessions, keynote addresses, training sessions and interesting
outdoor experiences in and along the Susquehanna River. Also, many
networking opportunities were built in, particularly during the continental
breakfasts, evening receptions, exhibit hall and refreshment breaks.
The symposium was for elected officials, representatives of business and
industry, environmental and conservation organizations, government agencies,
advocates for healthy communities and greenways, and anybody else who
wanted to exchange ideas for using and conserving their rivers' resources
to improve their communities.
This symposium was made possible by a generous grant from the PA Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources and funds from the PA Department
of Environmental Protection, PA Department of Transportation and Susquehanna
River Basin Commission. Thank you also to these companies and organizations
for their financial support: Geisinger Health System, Lycoming County
Planning Commission, PPL Corporation, The Center for Rural PA and Western
PA Watershed Program.
