WHITNEY POINT LAKE

In 1996, the Corps completed a basinwide reconnaissance study, which indicated that there is an existing and future need for additional water during low flow periods within the Susquehanna River basin that could potentially be addressed by Corps reservoirs. Whitney Point Lake was identified as one of the reservoirs having the potential for water storage. The additional water is needed for environmental restoration purposes to reduce stress to riverine habitats during low flow conditions. Releases from Whitney Point will benefit the Otselic, Tioughnioga, Chenango and Susquehanna Rivers.

On September 11, 2007, the Corps and SRBC broke ground for construction activities. Click on links for more information:
