Throughout the Susquehanna River Basin, community members are coming together as watershed organizations to make a difference with watershed restoration and protection efforts. Often, these volunteer organizations do not possess the legal expertise needed to establish a non-profit organization; apply for protection under Pennsylvania's Good Samaritan Act; or understand and address liability issues.

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission's Legal Technical Assistance Program is intended to build and enhance watershed organization's capacity and provide training on issues, including:

• 501(c)3 Non-Profit Status
• Articles of Incorporation
• Pennsylvania's Good Samaritan Act
• Liability

Explore this site to learn more about these legal topics; download forms to apply for 501(c)(3) incorporated status; watch a video clip; and request a free video on understanding liability and Pennsylvania's Good Samaritan Act.

SRBC's assistance program is, in no way, intended to be used as a substitute for legal advice, nor should it be considered legal advice. A lawyer should be consulted to ensure that the individual needs and requirements of your organization are considered.

SRBC's Legal Technical Assistance Program is being funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection through its Growing Greener Technical Assistance Grant program.
