2003 workshop fact sheet

For most fledgling watershed organizations, the process of becoming a non-profit organization is fraught with confusion. To help navigate the maze of procedures and forms, SRBC will be offering a series of six workshops in early 2003 entitled, "Obtaining 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Status for Pennsylvania Watershed Organizations." These evening workshops will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the following locations:

• March 11, 2003 The Yorktowne Hotel, York
• March 13, 2003 Radisson Penn Harris, Camp Hill
• March 18, 2003 NOTE: Changed to April 3, 2003 (see below)
• March 25, 2003 The Atherton Hotel, State College
• March 27, 2003 Best Western East Mountain Inn, Wilkes-Barre
• April 1, 2003 Williamston Inn, Towanda
• April 3, 2003 Holiday Inn Express, Altoona

The workshops feature attorney Steve Schiffman who has assisted many Pennsylvania watershed organizations in obtaining 501(c)(3) status. Steve will help demystify these complicated procedures and lay out the basic principles of becoming a non-profit organization. For more information on the legal technical assistance program, please call Ann Devine, SRBC's Community and Watershed Liaison at (717) 238-0423 ext. 314 or by E-mail.
