Upper Susquehanna Subbasin

Geographic features: The source of the Susquehanna River is Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, NY. From Cooperstown, the river flows southward across Pennsylvania and back into New York at Great Bend, Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna River then flows westward to be joined by the Chemung River at Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Most of the subbasin is steeply sloped with hills and ridges and dominated by forest land. Agricultural operations occupy the less steep areas. The rural population is dispersed throughout the subbasin in the form of small villages.
